Coach Lisa Bluder Announces Retirement
IOWA CITY, Iowa --
Iowa women's basketball's revered head coach Lisa Bluder announced her retirement Monday.
Bluder, 63, retires as the all-time Big Ten coaching wins leader with a 528-254 record at Iowa. She led the Hawkeyes to 15 NCAA Tournament appearances, including three Sweet 16s and two Elite Eights.
Bluder was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year four times and was a finalist for the Naismith National Coach of the Year Award in 2019.
"It is with a range of emotions that I share this news," Bluder said in a statement. "I am so grateful for the opportunity to have coached at the University of Iowa for the past 22 years. This program and this university mean the world to me.
"I have been blessed to work with so many amazing student-athletes, coaches, and staff members," Bluder continued. "I am so proud of what we have accomplished together."
Bluder's retirement is effective June 30, 2023.
